Cockpits. Black boxes. Stick shakers. No wonder the pilots aren’t concentrating on flying.
@AdamJLemon
Even if you believe VZ was incompetant (KLM’s top instructor? Do you really believe that?) no way did he intend to deliberately kill anyone…
Man, you must have been watching the NOVA documntary!
This docu is no where near so biased – but oddly the best and most balanced doucumentary on youtube has very few comments and NO comments…
Maybe people just prefer a good drama to factual documentary? ^_^
Tenereife was 582 homicides and 1 suicide. Epic fail, Van Zanten.
strange thing about that day? more like malignant
i think the stick pusher is a bad idea… many people, when a machine pushes against them, push back.

???
there’s still crap laying around next to the runway?
Oooh that’s sad news. Thanks for posting, I too was really impressed by the music in this series – sent David an email but unfortunately never received a reply. I think the music really adds to the atmosphere, one of the many great things about this series
lol
nice nice
look at the girl at 5:33 the redhead
Man! She is topless!
JJ — The composer for this series was David Ferguson, a very respected British musician, and former chairman of the BACS. I was so impressed by this music, I tracked him down and wrote to him hoping to attain a copy of it. Unfortunately, because of contractual reasons, he was unable to help, but he seemed like a nice fellow.
Sadly, David passed away just last month after a long bout with pancreatic cancer.
the pilots in the simulator must have been so young in 1972
They were all pretty nice (though I could have done without the mustachioed dude in the black Speedo).
It’s a shame at Tenerife. All were victims of terrorist psychology and spin. No one was an idiot. They simply found themselves as human beings in a most tense situation. Human beings equal with us all.
the pilot was a coke head
The 1996 TLC version was called “Survival In the Skies” narrated by US actor/ VO-guy Will Lyman (he did the VO on The West Wing episode “Access” – the mocumentary featuring CJ & the White House press among a billion other documentaries.) Cool voice – I could listen to him read the phone book!
98% same footage and script as the TLC. US vs UK I suppose… Had it on VHS, wore it out as it’s really well done so good to see it again.
There were survivors from this disaster, but I doubt the comment below is from one of them.
Who cares? Check out the sunbathing girl at 5:34 : )
Real footage, real interviews and real research. This series was one of a kind, and in my opinion the best of the genre.
anyone know who did the music for the series?….the composer or anythin???? there is some good music in it. the music at 4:45 in this video is good?
You were on that plane, saleyuga?
Funny because there were no survivors, so you must be a ghost. >.>
It is the original narrator. I had them on VHS too.
interesting, I remember watching and taping this whole series on VHS and could swear the narrator was different.
